On the Set

All for saving the checkerboard building, raise your hands!

Posted by Lance on July 10th, 2008

I really love our Portland aesthetic. The bridges, the mix of old and new buildings, the max and the park blocks. I lived in L.A. for awhile, and believe me not every city cares as much about those things as we do…

So when I read on the Portland Mercury blog that the building on SW 10th and 11th on Stark with that great checkerboard design had been sold, and might go away, it’s got my dander up.

Part of what I love about Hotel deLuxe is its great look and design. They could have done anything when they remodeled, but they made the look a priority. So let me just say that I hope the new owners have the good sense to save the checkerboard building for the same reason.

In the meantime, you better get over there to take a parting look just in case…

Fingers crossed,

Emily
