Oregon Symphony + Patrick Lamb + a Tribute to Ray Charles + the Hotel deLuxe = Good Times
We recently had some celebrity excitement here at the Hotel deLuxe, now I don’t listen to a lot of jazz, but even I know that Patrick Lamb is a big deal on the Portland scene. A week or so ago Mr. Lamb came by with a few of his jazziest friends for a photo shoot in our bar, the Driftwood Room. (If I get a copy of the photos I’ll post them here on the blog later.)
I found out later that the photos were for a show that Lamb has assembled along with fellow Portland jazz musicians like Linda Hornbuckle, Curtis Salgado, and “Sweet Baby” James, who make up the A Tribute to Ray Charles Band and the Oregon Symphony. The title of the show is “Let the Good Times Roll,” which as you guessed is a tribute to the great Ray Charles.
This is going to be an amazing show - I’m going to have to get tickets to this one. The show will run Oct 6th - 8th at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, here are some websites for more information:
Hmmm…great night of jazz at the Schnitz and then a 7 block MAX ride up to the Hotel deLuxe - that sounds like a great date night!
