Portland International Beerfest is only a streetcar away.

Posted by Lance on July 10th, 2007

This post is a shorty but a goodie. I’ve had my head in the clouds thinking about the Oregon Brewers Fest and I almost completely forgot about the Portland International BeerFest – happening this weekend! I better start making plans now.

    Here are the pertinent details:

    July 13th – 15th: Friday 4-10pm, Saturday 12-10pm, Sunday 12-7pm

Location: North Park Blocks in the Pearl District – NW David and NW Park Ave. – literally a streetcar ride from the hotel, I’ll have to go after work.

    Cost:
Beer drinkers pay $20 for 10 beer tickets and official PIB glass.
More tickets available for $1 each
    All beers are 4oz. servings

Each beer costs 1, 2, or 3 tickets depending on “swank factor”

I like that, swank factor – I wonder if they are referring to the beer or how swanky I’m dressed? Better dress down just in case.

By the way, some of these beers have high alcohol content, so be careful out there and be sure to take the Max or the Portland Streetcar, call a taxi (Radio Cab – 503.227.1212), designate a driver or stay at the Hotel deLuxe and do it all over again the next day!

    cheers!

BS Brewing just wrote up a review of the PIBF. Take a peek — it’s definitely worth attending, and you’re absolutely right about being careful about these euro beers sneaking up on you. Many of them are quite potent.

      Thom,

I took a look at BS’ review and man some of those are spot on! I don’t consider myself to be an expert taster (don’t get me wrong I know a beer when I taste a beer) but I do remember a few of those (before the euro strength actually got to me) and they were right on. I would have to agree that the Flanders Red (#12) was one of my favorites. Thanks for the link, I’ll have to try the other next year!

      cheers,
      Zach

For sure. Did you manage to try the chili mead? Sure, it was four tickets, but that was… snappy!

Love the blog. Very cool to have one of our classic hotels online showing visitors (and locals) what’s what.

Missed the chili mead – it sounds snappy indeed!

It’s out pleasure to be a resource, we’ve been doing it for our guests face-to-face for a long time now, we just thought it was time to get with the 21st century and share online.

Maybe we’ll see you at the Brewer’s Fest this weekend Thom!
