Slaying the Portland Dragon Boats at the Rose Festival

Posted by Lance on June 2nd, 2007

100 years old! That’s old, Grandpa Simpson old. Giant sea turtle old. And since I find both of them pretty funny, I guess I better give it a shot.

Actually, I’ve always wanted to check out the Rose Festival Dragon Boat races. I’ve seen the them practicing over the years, but never actually seen the races. I trust there is high-stakes betting to keep things interesting…?

And definitely the “From One Rose” documentary. It occurred to me that if the only parade I’ve ever been able to get behind was the one in Animal House, maybe I should actually shoot the big parade here. At 100, the Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade will probably be heavy on the grand this year – being one of Portland’s premier events. And who knows, maybe I can use the footage later.

OK, my break has broken. Have a good one!

The Rose Festival is always a great event. Too bad for the not quite sunny weather this year, but still a great event that puts our city on the map.

      Paul,

Thanks for the comment, it’s true our parade definitely got rained on this year – however the rest of the week was beautiful for the rest of the festival. I guess us Portlander’s have to take what we can get sometimes. Thanks Paul!
