If you’re like me and prefer your films with an “independent” flavor, you’re in a great spot at the Hotel deLuxe. Just a handful of blocks to the south, and near the best in Portland shopping and dining, is one of the city’s premier theaters for that brand of cinematic fare, the Fox Theater. (Sorry the link is so corporate, it’s the only good place I could find their listings – man I miss the old Fox Theater!)
Unfortunately, the original Fox Theater, which was pretty old, was torn down in the late 1990s to make room for the modern 27-floor Fox Tower. It’s sad. It’s been less than 10 years, and already it’s hard to remember what the old one used to look like.
Gotta run…

I saw something this morning you don’t see every day: a woman carrying two dogs dressed like Captain and Tennille. Or at least that’s what I thought they looked like. The one had a captain’s hat on anyway.
Not a lot of people know that the third floor of the Hotel Deluxe is OK for pets. And I just learned that we’re now introducing room service for pets. (True!) I’ve got to take the hotel pet menu home and show Orson (my bulldog). I haven’t tasted them, of course, but I know he would go totally mental for the “Beef Liver and Bacon Balls”.
The food is just part of a bunch of new stuff for pets that includes everything from a private bed and a library of pet-related books. The hotel will even arrange pet services daycare and massage. Orson could definitely use the pet psychic!
