If you’re like me and prefer your films with an “independent” flavor, you’re in a great spot at the Hotel deLuxe. Just a handful of blocks to the south, and near the best in Portland shopping and dining, is one of the city’s premier theaters for that brand of cinematic fare, the Fox Theater. (Sorry the link is so corporate, it’s the only good place I could find their listings - man I miss the old Fox Theater!)

Unfortunately, the original Fox Theater, which was pretty old, was torn down in the late 1990s to make room for the modern 27-floor Fox Tower. It’s sad. It’s been less than 10 years, and already it’s hard to remember what the old one used to look like.
